Elizabeth Whiteside

I am a senior honors thesis candidate in the SoCAP lab under Dr. Marcela Benítez. My thesis is investigating deceptive estrus behaviors and the effects of aging on estrogen production in female tufted capuchins. I am an Anthropology and Human Biology (B.S.) major and have been with the SoCAP lab since 2021 where I have focused on hormone and behavior projects. In 2023 I was honored with the Outstanding Junior Award by the Emory Department of Anthropology and that summer I joined Dr. Benítez at the Capuchins de Taboga field site in Costa Rica where I was able to get hands-on experience with fieldwork. Post-graduation, I am headed to medical school where I will follow my interest in reproductive healthcare and fertility medicine.
